How To Use FURST PROTECT DIRECT™ in Breeding Herd

Breeding Herd

The breeding herd is a great place to use FURST PROTECT DIRECT™ as needs are often temporary, and to optimize cost of application, water delivery is highly effective.

FURST PROTECT DIRECT™ has two main roles to support your breeding herd.

To support sows or boars during stress either from heat, or through disease pressure where feed and water intake may be less than desired during spikes in heat, or during an Influenza or PRRSv challenge where feed and water intake is interrupted.
In farrowing, to support maximum water and feed intake, and to support milk production, especially during the first week of lactation.

Water Supplementation Directions

Boar Stud

Provide continuously without break for 7 to 14 days as needed.
During heat stress or disease stress, mix 1 to 2 of the 16 oz bottles of FURST PROTECT DIRECT™ with 5 gallons of clean water, stir well, and meter into drinking water at 1:128. Ideally as with any water supplement, use a stir pump, if not available, manually stir the stock solution in morning and evening if needed.

Replacement Gilts

Provide continuously without break for 7 to 14 days as needed.
During heat stress or disease stress, mix 1 to 2 of the 16 oz bottles of FURST PROTECT DIRECT™ with 5 gallons of clean water, stir well, and meter into drinking water at 1:128. Ideally, as with any water supplement, use a stir pump; if not available, manually stir the stock solution in morning and evening if needed.

Sows

Provide continuously without break for 7 to 14 days as needed.
During heat stress or disease stress, mix 1 of the 1-gallon jugs of FURST PROTECT DIRECT™ with 40 gallons of water, stir well, and meter into drinking water at 1:128. Generally, 1 gallon will cover 180 sows for 7 days. Ideally, as with any water supplement, use a stir pump; if not available, manually stir the stock solution in morning and evening if needed.

Sows in Farrowing

Provide continuously for 7 days to maximize water and feed intake of your sows.
For the first 7 days in farrowing, mix 1 x 16 oz bottles of FURST PROTECT DIRECT™ with 5 gallons of clean water, stir well, and meter into drinking water at 1:128. Ideally, as with any water supplement, use a stir pump; if not available, manually stir the stock solution in morning and evening if needed.
